Environmental Safety Technologies is proud to announce that on January 23, 2017, our laboratory was granted, by the New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH), an interim approval for Legionella culture analyses in accordance with the Environmental Laboratory Approval Program (ELAP). This approval authorizes us to process water samples from the state of New York for Legionella analysis.
As a participant in ELAP, Environmental Safety Technologies has submitted an application, standard operating procedures, and demonstration of capability, and was issued an ELAP ID #12068. We are waiting for NYS DOH to schedule an on-site assessment prior to final certification being granted. Certification for Legionella culture analysis will be in the category of Non-Potable Water using International Standard Method 11731 Water quality detection and enumeration of Legionella.
The proposed permanent Protection Against Legionella regulation will require all Legionella culture analyses of Non-Potable Water in the state of New York to be performed by a laboratory approved by the New York State Environmental Laboratory Approval Program (ELAP).
