From the President

In 1993, Dr. Richard Miller and I founded Environmental Safety Technologies, Inc., a unique collaboration bringing together two areas of science: microbiology and industrial hygiene. Since our inception, we set ambitious goals for ourselves and we have the intense vision, passion, commitment and resources to achieve them. We have grown our business substantially, yet managed to never waiver from our promise to deliver the very best service at a fair price to our customers. Environmental Safety Technologies has the knowledge, experience, and expertise to bring specialty services to many markets. In 2005, we became an AIHA-LAP, LLC Accredited Environmental Microbiology Laboratory.

In 2010, The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) invited us to participate in the pilot ELITE Program (Environmental Legionella Isolation Techniques Evaluation Program) and deemed us a proficient Legionella laboratory. We have established ourselves internationally as The Indoor Air Quality and Microbiology Experts. Since the mid-90’s we have performed infection prevention training for contractors and hospital personnel, as well as consultation and environmental testing on approximately 15,000 hospital construction projects including renovations and new construction. We have also conducted approximately 20,000 indoor air quality investigations and testing in commercial buildings and residential properties.

Our disaster and emergency services, as well as consultative services, have been provided for the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and the 2009 flood in Louisville, Kentucky. Our specialty services include: monitoring occupational and environmental exposures to mechanical, chemical and biological hazards, building science studies including historical buildings, environmental Legionella risk assessments, fungal and bacterial sampling and laboratory analyses, indoor air quality investigations for schools and cruise ships, expert testimony and special environmental study projects.

Environmental Safety Technologies’ employees are active members of the following organizations and serve on special committees and boards: American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE), Kentucky Society of Healthcare Engineers (KSHE), American Hospital Association (AHA), American Institute of Architects (AIA), Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), American Indoor Air Quality Council, Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA), The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), Association of Water Technologies (AWT), and American Society of Microbiology (ASM).

Each year we face additional business challenges, but we measure success by annually exceeding our corporate expectations, delivering the very best service at a fair price to our customers, achieving customer respect and providing educational seminars for our customers as well as educational opportunities for our employees so that they may provide the highest level of competent work to our customers.

Environmental Safety Technologies recognizes and embraces our responsibility to protect our people and the environment. Our commitment to environmental awareness and preservation is reflected throughout our business. In 2008 we began a Pollution Prevention and Recycling Program; both are designed to reduce waste, conserve natural resources, and lessen the impact on the environment.
